Aš – pirmoji pasaulyje diplomuota bitlologė
Tokiu titulu gali drąsiai girtis pirmoji pasaulyje magistro laipsnį iš „The Beatles“ studijų apsigynusi 53 metų kanadietė Mary-Lu Zahalan-Kennedy.

Iš pirmo žvilgsnio originalią studijų programą, kuri vadinasi „The Beatles, populiarioji muzika ir visuomenė“, nuo 2009 metų siūlo Liverpool Hope universitetas. Pirmaisiais metais šia programa susidomėjo 12 studentų (apie jų likimą, skirtingai nei Mary-Lu, informancijos nepavyko rasti).
„Visame pasaulyje yra maždaug 8000 knygų apie The Beatles, tačiau dar neteko skaityti nė vienos rimtos akademinės studijos šia tema“, – pristatydamas naujas studijas teigė idėjinis programos lyderis Mike Brocken.
Studijų programa susideda iš 4 dalių:
Pirmoje studijų dalyje „Texts and Contexts: Understanding Popular Music“ nagrinėjama bendra populiariosios muzikos samprata, susipažįstama su populiariosios muzikos studijų kontekstu, raida/pokyčiais per paskutinius 50 metų.
Antroje dalyje „Topics in History: Liverpool“ nagrinėjami muzikos industrijos ypatumai po II Pasaulinio karo. Analizuojama, kodėl būtent Liverpulyje atsirado šį grupė, kokios ekonominės, socialinės, politinės būtent to meto ir vietos sąlygos galėjo daryti įtaką grupės formavimuisi.
Trečioje dalyje „Musicology and the Beatles“ studentai nagrinėja The Betales dainų tekstus ir kitą su grupe susijusią medžiagą (plakatus, video, interviu su muzikantais ir t.t.).
Galiausiai ketvirtojoje dalyje „Historical and Critical Approaches“ studentai gilinasi į etnografinę prieigą analizuojant The Beatles fenomeną, skirtingus kultūrinius diskursus. Aiškinamasi, kokią įtaką grupė turėjo Vakarų kultūrai bei kitoms gyvenimo sritims.

Tai kol kas vienintelė tokio pobūdžio studijų programa visame pasaulyje, tačiau atidžiau panagrinėjus panašias studijų programas, nesunku pastebėti, kad už originalaus studijų pavadinimo slepiasi tiesiog populiariosios muzikos studijos, tik su specifiniu prieskoniu.

Nuolatinį „Skalvijos“ lankytoją bei „Forum Cinemas“ vengėją galėtų patraukti studijų programa „David Lynch. Siurrealizmas kine“, kurioje tereiktų prie įprastos kino studijų programos pridėti vieną semestrą išskirtinai apie siurrealizmą bei kitą semestrą skirti tik D. Lyncho kūrybai.
